Does the original DS charger work for the GBA SP?

I recently bought a used Game Boy Advance SP that came with no charger. Never having one before, I don't own a charger, either. I DO, however, own the original DS (fat, platinum, massive, etc) and have heard that the SP can be charged safely with the old DS charger.

I know i can BUY a charger, but if i can use the one I have, it would be preferred. Thanks!

Yes, the first Nintendo DS Charger works for the GBA SP. The Nintendo DS Lite, DSi, and 3DS chargers do not though.
