Question:
Fixing Wii via SaveMiiFrii?

So I've done SaveMiiFrii, and the system version showed up on the bottom to confirm that it was working. I was then told to wait for a new system update pushed by a game disc.

My Wii bricked almost immediately after the 4.3 update, and there hasn't been one since (making this the longest period between system updates, of course).

Now, is there any other way to fix the Wii via SaveMii? I know that there exist "unbricking disc"s, "update disc"s, and all sort of other sketchy stuff which I'd be willing to try at this time. But I wonder if there's any way for these to work, and theoretically "push the update" if no such update exists? Are there any products which just begin the update process, voiding the need for said update to exist? Or maybe some that downgrade instead, but have the same effect (of fixing the wii).

With Project Cafe and E3 on the horizon, I fear that my much needed 4.4 will never be a reality. Does anybody know any alternatives along the same guidelines, or any alternatives at all?

The only fix now will come from either a later system menu firmware update or from NAND flashing.

I assume you've already made attempts at restoring with Bootmii and a NAND backup. If not, try holding reset when you power the Wii to load Priiloader. If it boots you can launch either HBC or Bootmii through the menu.

I'm guessing that won't work, but worth the shot if you haven't tried.

Next up is the hope that you have Bootmii installed as boot2. Power on your console with no disc in the drive. If the drive flashes twice you have Bootmii/boot2 and can proceed with the following instructions:

Load the bootmii folder containing the three files for your region found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?bjc4dbm13g5es

onto the root of an SD card and place in the console. Power on with no GC controller or memory cards plugged in and no disc in the drive. Bootmii will load and you can restore your NAND backup.

If none of that works your only option right now is NAND flash recovery. If your Wii is only capable of Bootmii/IOS you must have a NAND backup for this to work. If you have Bootmii/boot2 but no NAND backup it can also be made to work. See the source link below for more details and info.

Good luck.
