For the ages of the kids, Gamecube is the best choice. It has 4 controller ports, and there are lots of games that are good for families that 4 can play at the same time, like Mario Kart:Double Dash, Super Smash Bros, and the best of all Mario Party! Most of the best games can be found for about $20. Best of all, if you ever decide to upgrade to a Nintendo Wii, you can use all the old Gamecube games, memory cards, and controllers for use in the Wii. A new Cube with one control will run about $99. There are a few bundle packs floating about that have the same price but a free game inside. Just look for the special sticker on the corner of the box.

If your planing on spending from $1-$100 go to a used game store like game stop or EB games to buy any used nintendo consoles like a Nintendo 64 (near $35) or a Nintendo gamecube (near $65). If your planing on spending $250-$300 you should buy the new Nintendo console called the Nintendo Wii ($250) this console will suit your family really good because not only are most of the games aimed for children but it also will keep them busy with it's new controlers which will give them the ability to actually experianse games first hand.

Nintendo game cube. They are fairly inexpensive & have TONS of games geared towards the ages of your children. They have more cartoonish like games, like Mario, pokemon, zelda, kirby. No scary shooting bloody games. My 11 year daughter has had it for about 3 years and she loves it. I think the X box & PSP (psp 2 & 3) are big boy toys....(meaning older teens and grown men) (My husband has an Xbox) The graphics are more realisic but the Nintendo systems have focused more on making the games more fun. I think Kids care more about fun than graphics. It cost about 79 dollars and has slots for 4 players at a time. It comes with 2 controllers but purchase 2 more. The first game I would get would be Super Mario Cart. Its the a fun racing game that even the 3 year old can play. (and they can play it all at one time) You'll love it.

the 9 year old probally wants a wii but i think a gamecube would be find for your family for a couple of years. 90% of the games for the games cube are really ment for younger audiences and im sure that everyone could enjoy it.

pluse since the amecube is the previous nintendo consule its going to be very easy to find and most likey going to cost you under $100

if you choose a wii its going to be harder to find and cost you 250 and your going to have to buy extra controllers for every one which is going to cost you between 20-60 depending on if you get both the wii remote and/or the nunchuck.

the wii is soppesed to be very easy to play and is even advertised a s a way for kids to play with the adults.

if you have any forther questions you can always call your local gamestop or ebgames and ask them what they think.

The Nintendo Wii is THE MOST family friendly gaming system out there! Believe me your kids will love it! Not to mention that the Wii will keep your kids active while playing video games!

I have a new Wii listing if you're interested. Starting bid is only $10. Here's the link:

Thats alot of hands on breakage. I would go to a second hand game store like Game Stop and buy a used system and used games. Anything Nintendo. Their games are more suited for younger kids. I have XBOX and the games are aimed towards adults and are all pretty brutal.

eithor game cube(lots of games suitable for kids in those age groups....) or ps 2..because its not games for all ages and they could have it for more years than they could have a game cube ...if ur in canada u can get a ps2 for 120$ plus taxes...with one paddle and sometimes a memory card comes with it!...games range from 20$-60$...and a game cube i dnt think iv ever seen games less than 30$..and it usualy only comes with the hardware and paddle! they go for about 100$ too!

merry christmas and i hope u find the right system.. good luck

get a PS2.

1. very cheap, $129.00 for the system

2. Huge library of games to choose from

3. kids that young wont care if it is not a 360 or PS3

4. availability will not be a problem, you can get PS2s everywhere

don't spend the extra dough on the next gen consoles if you don't need to.

With the xbox360 you have total control on what the family uses per profile so you could have a profile for each kid and only allow them to play "e" rated games.. and not to worry about the online stuff cause it filters that also!!

i would say the nintendo wii because your kids aren't very old yet. the wii has a lot of fun games that aren't very violent and they're easy to play. the wii is $250.00. it might be hard to find but Best Buy is probably the best place to look. when you buy it it comes with wii sports which is a game of various sports.

Because of your kids young age and my long time gaming expierence. My best judgement would be GameCube. Maybe not the newest and coolest but it is very family orintated in its games and have good games for kids your age.
No, You.

A Nintendo Wii. They are easy to control, and (almost) all of the games are kid-friendly and rated 'E', so that's a good choice.

None! Kids get way too addicted to that stuff! Instead they should be reading a book, doing something creative, playing outside...this is why we have so many overweight children, because they sit in front of a tv for hours at a time.

if you can't get a ps3 then I would go for the Wii if your on a budget. Plus it is easier for the younger kids to learn.

It's too bad you only think of 'electronic babysitters' to keep your children busy. Why not just buy some old fashioned games and play them with your children. I play games with my grand daughters all of the time and they love the time I spend with them. Their parents do the same as my parents did with me and I did with my children. Sometimes we even make up games and have tons of fun. I just hate it when I see children glued to TV's and computers. Children need to learn to be creative and play like children.
